The 69th edition of the Feria Internacional de Muestras de Asturias (FIDMA) in Gijón has closed with a new record of 751,412 visitors.
This figure — 2,548 more than in 2025 — consolidates the event as the region's largest economic and commercial gathering, according to the Gijón Chamber of Commerce.
With 720 exhibitors and all stands occupied, the fair has confirmed its role as a "great business centre" for Asturias.
According to the fair's director, Álvaro Alonso Ordás, "the data supports that it should be considered the largest economic and commercial event of the year in the service of all Asturians and a reference for all people who visit the Principality." The fair has hosted 230 institutional events and other activities in an edition dedicated on this occasion to the transition of industry towards new materials and new energies, but in which the history of Asturias has also had a thread running through it. Caja Rural de Asturias and Hunosa have debuted new pavilions, while Banco Sabadell Herrero has remodelled its own.
By pavilion, the Principality's proposal, with its meadow party atmosphere and its slogan 'Asturias yes tu', resonated with the public, achieving its best figures since records began. More than 150,000 people visited its stand — an increase of more than 36% compared to 2025. "It has been a historic edition," emphasised the Minister of Culture, Vanessa Gutiérrez, who also detailed that they have now beaten their own records for three consecutive years. Visitors connected with its 126 activities, which ranged from robotics demonstrations and experiences linked to augmented reality to live forging and traditional Asturian games.
Félix Baragaño, president of the Gijón Chamber of Commerce:The edition that concludes now consolidates the Fair as a great business centre, where, in addition to direct sales, meetings and contacts occur that subsequently transform into projects.
This year's "star" was the Caja Rural de Asturias pavilion, which has been part of the consortium since 2024. With a height of fourteen metres, 1,576 square metres of built surface distributed across three floors and an investment of €3.7 million, its transparent design attracted more than 60,000 people. Hunosa, which changed location and doubled its space, increased its visitors by 30%, from 17,500 last year to 22,900. The 'Luis de Adaro' locomotive and its decarbonised energy projects aroused genuine interest.
Another of the most visited stands was that of Sabadell Herrero, which renovated its exterior image and this year exceeded 85,000 visitors, consolidating its growth trend. The main attraction was the exhibition 'Reino Astur', developed together with the Asociación Amigos del Reino Astur, which allowed thousands of visitors to take a journey through the origins of Asturias through historical recreations, audiovisual resources and interactive experiences. An AI experience allowed visitors to become characters from the Kingdom of Asturias, becoming one of the great attractions of the pavilion.
The eclipse was the protagonist of the Alimerka stand, which presented a very educational proposal on the phenomenon using virtual reality to travel to the universe and see the eclipse "from there". With 50,000 visitors, the stand exceeded all expectations. According to its Corporate Communication and Marketing Manager, Marta Tejerina, "it seems we have got it right again, and we will continue thinking about what we can do next year. A year in which, furthermore, we celebrate two anniversaries: 40 years of Alimerka and ten years of our presence at the Fair, so we will certainly make an interesting proposal in the next edition."
